Sustainable Consumption and Production Seminar Series
2006-2008
Changing the Way we Achieve Health and Wellbeing
24th November 2008
Cardiff University
In some societies health issues focus on the management of large scale epidemics caused by poverty, lack of resources and other factors. Others face issues related to over consumption, including obesity, alcohol and drug and smoking related illnesses. Traditional medicine relies heavily on pharmaceutical products and hospital or GP based services, but these can be highly unsustainable in economic as well as environmental and social terms. Increasingly, consumers are seeking other alternatives, both in the kinds of products they use to treat illness and in the services they access. This seminar explored these issues further.
