PhD Title
Fair Fashion: Corporate Social Responsibility in the UK Fashion Retail Sector
Career Experience and Qualifications
Llyr joined the ESRC Centre for Business Relationships, Accountability, Sustainability and Society (BRASS) in September 2008 to undertake research into corporate social responsibility in the fashion retail sector.
He holds an ESRC 1+3 PhD Studentship and is currently working on a PhD under the supervision of Prof. Ken Peattie, Dr Diego Vazquez and Dr Julie Newton. His research is focused on how UK fashion retailers communicate information about working conditions in garment assembly factories to consumers and other stakeholders.
Prior to joining BRASS Llyr co-founded Positif Politics, a Welsh-based political consultancy, in 2006. He has provided public affairs and communications support to a broad range of private, public and voluntary sector organisations in the fields of retail, environment, economic development and health. He continues to contribute to the development of the company in a non-executive capacity.
Llyr also worked as a political journalist and senior producer at BBC Wales’ Political Unit from 2000 to 2004.
He holds an MA in Modern History from Oriel College, University of Oxford (2000), and an MBA (2007) and MSc in Social Science Research Methods (2009) from Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University.
He is a fluent Welsh speaker and an active member of the award winning mixed choir Côrdydd.
