Lori Frater

Career Experience and Qualifications

Lori holds a degree in law from King’s College, London, degree in Business Administration from the University of Strathclyde, a Masters of Environmental Law from Sydney University and was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 2000 after completing the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law.

After completing her business degree Lori worked for a number of years in the Arts including being the co-founder of a large arts and entertainment venue in Glasgow where she held the position of Executive Director and Company Secretary.

Prior to joining BRASS, Lori worked for Freshfields, Bruckhaus Deringer in their Environment, Planning and Regulatory group, for the Environment Agency in both waste and environmental crime, the Waste Strategy team of the Welsh Assembly Government and for Natural England where she worked on regional biodiversity issues in the South East of England.

Lori had previously worked for BRASS as the Project Manager of the Commercial and Industrial Waste survey, which was conducted in partnership with Environment Agency Wales

Research Areas of Interest

Regulation of nanotechnology; biotechnology and the role of intellectual property rights; the role of international law on the protection of national and regional biodiversity; waste, resource conflict and the influencing, developing and implementing policy.
