Methodology
The review of local authority strategies was largely desk based using strategies posted on the web, but it included also field work in the form of interviews with contaminated land officers in local authorities and bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (www.cieh.org). This in turn led to access to other data in the possession of these contacts.
The impact study involved liaison with the Environment Agency and with contaminated land officers from local authorities to build up case-study information about sites designated as contaminated and the remediation of such sites.
