Aims and Objectives
The main aims of the research are as follows:
- To understand how business clusters are defined in Wales and The Netherlands and to examine the aims and objectives of cluster initiatives in the regions;
- To explore whether and how policy initiatives for cluster development and sustainable development are linked
- To understand the economic, social and environmental benefits from clusters and the factors determining them (including degree of localisation, human capital, links with HE, effective policy support etc);
- To explore the nature and strength of non-material and material (particularly waste and energy related) inter-firm linkages in business clusters.
