Aims and Objectives

The ITA trial was independently monitored and evaluated jointly by BRASS, Cardiff University and ADAS. In assessing whether or not the Trial aim of raising participating farmers’ awareness, understanding and ultimately uptake of biosecurity, specific research objectives were to determine:

1. What difference has the ITA made?

2. Why have changes in Biosecurity practice occurred or have not occurred?

These research questions were to be addressed by way of an evaluation of:

a) The role, practices and attitudes of vets in delivering ITA guidance and advice

b) The role, practice and attitudes of farmers in receiving ITA guidance and advice

c) The overall management of the ITA
