Aims and Objectives
The project aims to:
· Evaluate economical, social and environmental externalities of the mining industry in Argentina.
· Identify and understand the causes of social resistance from communities and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) towards the mining industry in Argentina.
· Recognise tensions between various actors and define tools that can guide government and private regulators for sustainable development in the mining industry in Argentina.
· Develop application models for partial resolution of present conflicts such as models for revenue distribution from the mining companies to the affected communities.
The project aims to disseminate the results by means of academic publications in journals as well as organisation of a seminar at the School of Sciences at the University of Buenos Aires which would attract communities, business and government representatives.
