Aims and Objectives
The subject of community participation is a key element of the relationship between corporations and communities and an integral part of corporate social responsibility. The project will explore local and indigenous community engagement with corporations in the context of infrastructure projects linked to resource exploitation. The project examines governance tools and models that promote sustainability and ensure productive involvement of communities residing in the area of infrastructure projects.
The project will work to identify the community impacts of pipeline infrastructure, and to identify elements of good practice in developing community participation. The study seeks to explore the main determinants of better quality outcomes, and to develop a framework in which to explore how pipeline infrastructure impacts on the services flowing from the natural environment to local and/or indigenous people.
