Methodology

The following mixture of methodologies is being used:

  • Extensive desk research to condense existing thinking and debate from previous Future Foundation research and external published sources
  • Qualitative consumer research – comprising in-depth household interviews, ethnographic techniques through accompanied shopping trips and shared on-line visits to explore behaviour and attitudes in the field.
  • Quantitative research – an on-line questionnaire to test hypotheses generated from the initial phases of research, which will further support any forecasting.
  • Delphi study – a two round study to establish consensus on future scenarios undertaken by experts to highlight key considerations in
