BRASS has a long-standing interest in how we measure sustainability impacts and progress towards sustainability. BRASS work in Eco-footprinting began as part of the research team that undertook the first Eco-Footprint for Wales and two of its regions (including Cardiff). From there is has developed new and innovative applications for footprinting in relation to sporting and cultural events, and in 2007 hosted the first major international academic footprinting conference. Other indicator related work has concerned developing sustainability indicators for the Welsh Assembly Government, indicators for tourism and cultural businesses, and indicators for social enterprises.
