Mineral wealth forms the basis of industrialised economies, and extractive industries play a significant role in debates about sustainability concerning the depletion of resources, environmental impacts and the impact on communities living on land containing mineral riches. BRASS research on CSR in mining has focussed mainly on the relationships between mining companies and local communities.
